Iván Segovia

Venezuelan-American baritone IVÁN SEGOVIA has called Atlanta his home since 1987. A graduate of Clayton State University, Iván studied voice with Dr. Maya Hoover. He performed numerous roles with the CSU Opera Theatre, including the role of “Henrik” in Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, “The Sorceress” in Dido & Aeneas, and “Figaro” in Le Nozze di Figaro, a role he reprised with Peach State Opera. A seasoned performer, Iván has also been a member of the Atlanta Opera Chorus since 2006, and has performed regularly in both their mainstage and touring productions.  He most recently toured in Atlanta Opera’s En Mis Palabras, a bilingual opera for their educational outreach programs. In demand for both oratorio and opera, Iván has most recently been seen as “Don Alfonso” in Capitol City Opera’s production of Cosí Fan Tutte, as “Colline” in Puccini’s La Bohéme, the bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and as Anthony in Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd.  Iván teaches piano and voice at In Tune Studio in Grant Park, as well as with Music After School, in several after-school programs in the Atlanta area.
