Soprano MEGAN MASHBURN completed her Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from Boston University in May 2007. In April 2009 at Emory University’s Schwartz Center, she sang the soprano movement in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem. She performed as “Daughter” in the Atlanta Opera’s premier of Akhnaten with composer Phillip Glass in attendance in February of 2009. With Boston University’s Opera Institute she sang “Coloratura/Lady with a Handmirror” in Argento’s Postcard from Morocco. In April 2006, Megan performed the role of “Vera” in the Opera Institute’s A Month in the Country and in May 2006 sang “Susanna” in Le Nozze di Figaro with L’Orchestra da Camera Boston. Most recently, she was the recipient of the Encouragement Award at the Metropolitan Council Auditions in the Georgia. Megan’s international debut featured her in the role of “Die Konigin der Nacht” at the Amalfi Music Festival in Italy, Summer 2007. She sang “Eve” in Boston University’s Symphony Hall performance of Haydn’s Creation and was a frequent soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah in New England. Megan received her Bachelor of Music degree from Furman University, where she performed “Susanna”, in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, as wellas “Nella” in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, she has appeared as the soprano soloist in Faure’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Cantata 51. She is a student of Elizabeth Nohe Colson and sings with the Atlanta Opera Chorus. Ms. Mashburn’s 2010-2011 season includes “Cunegonde” in the GA Perimeter TAG’s Production of Candide, recitals and concerts throughout the Southeast.
