CATHERINE GIEL has served as the Music Director with Capitol City Opera for three years. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in piano performance and completed a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the Florida State University College of Music. For five years, Catherine served as the accompanist in concert and on tour with the top collegiate choral ensemble at Florida State, the University Singers, under the direction of Dr. Kevin Fenton. She worked extensively with the Florida State University Opera Studio. In addition to her work with Capitol City Opera, Catherine maintains a dynamic performance schedule as a frequent pianist for The Atlanta Opera, has appeared as a guest pianist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions, and has served as a collaborative artist for numerous recitals and competitions throughout the southeast. Catherine maintains an active vocal coaching studio, and is married to violist and conductor Michael Giel.
