MARGARET MCMURRAY is a 2017 graduate of the Georgia State University School of Music Masters of Music program. Recent GSU Opera roles include Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Erste Knabe in Die Zauberflöte, and the Dewfairy/Gretel (cover) in Hansel and Gretel. She was also given the opportunity to sing Barbarina’s aria from Le nozze di Figaro with the Atlanta Chamber Winds in their performance of Jonathan Dove’s Figures in the Garden. She made her professional debut in 2015 with Opera in the Rock in Little Rock, AR. She sang chorus and covered the 1st Spirit in the winter production of The Magic Flute and she sang the roles of the Sandman/Dewfairy, and, later, Gretel in scenes from Hansel and Gretel for Opera in the Rock’s Jennifer Boccarossa community outreach program. Favorite roles include Carolina in Il matrimonio segreto with Red River Lyric Opera, Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Opera Breve and Monica in The Medium with University of Memphis Opera. Margaret has a BM in voice performance from the University of Memphis. She currently lives in Atlanta and studies voice with Kay Paschal.
