Baajah Mohammed, Soprano, recently graduated from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. There she studied under the tutelage of Margaret Baroody and Metropolitan Opera Mezzo Denyce Graves. She is a proud recipient of the George Castelle Memorial in Voice from Peabody Institute. Most recently, Baajah debuted the role of Lydia in the staged premiere of Kirk Mechem’s Pride and Prejudice. She has also been seen as Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, Una Converse in Suor Angelica, and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. A proponent of contemporary vocal music, Baajah became a member of the North Carolina New Music Initiative, performing various choral, chamber, and solo works and collaborating extensively with new composers. She was part of Peabody Opera Etudes program where she was a vocalist in numerous new vocal works. In light of the COVID -19 pandemic, Baajah is living in Atlanta, GA while teaching and performing virtually.
